The Lure of Perfection is about my seemingly never ending quest and lust for the music, for the sounds themselves and for the process by which both of these entities converge.
I have been through many stages of studio setup over the last 30 years, from basic computer and single synthesiser, to a room full of analog delights, then selling it all and using only a single computer, to more recently where i've been adding various analog machines again. I thought this would be some kind of magic wand, giving my music and production some magical element but the reality was that i was like a dog chasing it's tail and the difference to the final finished tracks was all but imperceptible.
The title is a reflection of this chase. I ultimately decided to rest solely with my most important creative tool, my laptop. I write on planes, in the car, on the sofa, on trains and i decided musically and sonically that i would go back to a more simple style, reminiscent to the Voice Stealer era, using very simple basic waveforms and melodies, trying not to get swept along searching and searching for a never ending stream of sounds.
It's all created inside Ableton Live with heavy usage of U-He plugin synthesisers.
